According to the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), only 33% of 4th graders nationwide are reading at grade level. (Nation’s Report Card, 2022)
But here at St. Joseph Community School, 80% of our 4th graders are reading at or above grade level!
🙌 That’s more than double the national average — a true testament to our dedicated teachers, hardworking students, and supportive families.

We’re still reflecting on the powerful homily from last Friday’s all-school Mass.🤩
Fear of the Lord isn’t about being scared. It’s a holy reverence that draws us closer to God. It reminds us of His greatness and our dependence on His love and grace.
We’ll never be perfect or able to offer Him all the glory He deserves, but that’s exactly where His mercy pours in. May we always walk with humble awe and grateful hearts.

MEET OUR 2025-2026 STUDENT COUNCIL 🤩 🥳
Today Father Chris gave our middle school a impromptu eucharist lesson. In the Eucharist, we believe that the bread and wine offered on the altar truly become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This change is called transubstantiation. While the outward appearances of bread and wine remain—what we see, taste, and touch—their deepest reality is transformed by the power of Christ’s words at the Last Supper: “This is my body… This is my blood.”
Transubstantiation, then, is not only a theological truth but also a call to faith. It invites us to see with the eyes of the heart, trusting in the presence of Christ hidden beneath the forms of bread and wine. It is a reminder that God meets us in humility, offering Himself as true food and true drink to nourish our souls and lead us to eternal life. #PantherPath #LearningFaith

📚 For the past three years, our teachers have been hard at work in LETRS training, gaining both a deep understanding of the science of reading and practical strategies for strong literacy instruction.
✨ This year, we’re excited to put that learning into action! Students in grades 1–4 will now participate in small group reading instruction during reading center rotations. These groups will focus on fluency, phonics, and handwriting—all in addition to whole-class lessons in phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Our goal is simple: to give every student the comprehensive support they need to become confident, skilled readers. 💡📖

This week our staff and 7th-8th graders took part in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training with Ryan Nesbit.💚 In honor of Suicide Awareness Month, we are starting important conversations about mental health and breaking the stigma.
