The preschoolers have been investigating different ways to make balls move. After reading The Three Billy Goats Gruff (where the river carries away the troll) the preschoolers were wondering if water can make balls move. So they did an investigation! Everyone was able to choose a ball to try and they noticed the water was able to move some balls, but not others. They thought some balls were too heavy for the water to move and some were too spiky or had lines going around it. The investigation continued into center time as well!

Middle school students got a closer look at DNA during lab. They were able to extract DNA by crushing a strawberry with a soap solution to break down the cell wall and release the DNA of the strawberry. Students then got to see how when the long, stringy molecules of DNA come together it gets tangled. The tangled DNA makes a slimy liquid that students were able to pick up with a toothpick and touch. The DNA of a strawberry is not quite as long as the DNA found in a human cell (6 feet), but still fun to look at!

Middle School students have been learning about genetics this quarter. Students were tasked to create a hybrid food that has never been made before. Students took the best traits/flavors from each food to create something new and delicious. Teachers were then the brave taste testers and tried all of the new foods created. This was a great way for students to show their learning and a fun way to start the week!

In todayβs gospel Jesus reminds us that we need to have ears open to hearing the Good News. He also tells us our calling as disciples is to go out proclaiming His love and mercy for each and everyone of us. ππ #pantherpath
