Last Friday, Ali McDonald spoke to the Middle Schoolers about prayer and different ways and tools to help students with prayer. One unique and special way that she shared was the way Landri Burgart prayed. Among the many ways Landri prayed, a special way included keeping an altoid box and filling it with prayers. .Landri had a longing for mission work, however her time on Earth was cut short. Students were all given a prayer box in her memory donated by her grandmother. She is an encouragement to keep that communication alive with God.
Whether it is proclaiming the word, singing God's praises, or serving mass, it is good that we gather together as a St. Joe's family to praise God. 🙏

Huge thank you to all who helped support through our apple stand put on by our kindergarteners! The kindergarteners were very proud to be able to do this for their friend with your support. They raised $976.77 to help the Burgart family!
Jane Finnegan was an important part of St. Joseph Community School as a grandmother to Victoria and Callie Speltz, substitute teacher for several years, and was also a dedicated member of Fae Stine Legion Auxiliary Unit #38. Alpha Zeta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, a teacher sorority of which Jane was a member, recently donated the book ‘The Poppy Lady’ by Barbara Elizabeth Welsh/artist Layne Johnson to the school library.
It is the inspiring story behind the Veterans Day red poppy, a symbol. When American soldiers entered World War I, Moina Belle Michael, a schoolteacher from Georgia, knew she had to act. Some of the soldiers were her students and friends. Almost single-handedly, Moina worked to establish the red poppy as the symbol to honor and remember soldiers. And she devoted the rest of her life to making sure the symbol would last forever. Thanks to her hard work, that symbol remains today.
