St. Joseph Community School

St. Joseph School is so proud of their students! During Healthy Kids Week (April 4th-8th), the Wellness Team organized a one day only Penny War between the classrooms. Each homeroom had a jar outside of the main office. Throughout the day students could add pennies or dollar bills to their homeroom jar, which would be counted as a positive amount. Students could also place silver coins in other homerooms. The sliver would be counted as a negative amount. The room with the most positive amount of money in their jar won an extra recess. At the end of the day, the students raised a total of $835.00 with Mrs. Shatek's homeroom winning the extra recess. The Wellness Team designated that half of the funds would go to Their Fight Is Our Fight 5K and the other half would go to the Iowa Donor Organization. On Thursday, April 28th, checks were presented to both organizations.
